These are the healthiest and most environmentally-friendly loft board panels for sale in the UK and are available exclusively from LoftZone. What’s so good about them? Well, they have 97% lower emissions of formaldehyde and much lower emissions of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) than conventional chipboard loft boards, because of healthier glues that are used to bond the particles of wood. Both formaldehyde and VOCs are known to cause health problems, including cancer. These chemicals are regulated in many products (e.g. most paints nowadays have to be low VOC) but the UK Government does not yet regulate them in timber products and LoftZone is the first company to offer low emissions loft boards.

In addition, at the end of their life, these loft boards are easier to recycle than the ones you can get from DIY stores, as the glue is also more environmentally-friendly than standard loft boards. They are as strong as our “Supreme” loft boards, being officially rated as “P5”, which is a higher rating than on our Superior loft boards, or those you can buy from DIY stores, which means that they are load bearing and also suitable for use in both dry and humid conditions

Just like all our loft boards, the panels have been designed with tongue and groove on the long edges, allowing the panels to slot into one another for a secure fit and easy installation.

Features and Benefits

• Certified to the German “Blue Angel” standard, which is the highest environmental standard for construction products in Europe
• The laid face dimensions of each board are 1220 long x 310 wide (this does not include the tongue, which adds 9mm to the width but which is inserted inside the groove of the next board) x 18mm thick
• Each panel weighs 5kg
• Tongue-and-groove on the two long edges, for rapid and easy installation. There is no tongue-and-groove on the two short edges.

• This board is classified as “P5” which means it is load bearing and can be used in both dry and humid conditions. Its bending strength is at least 152kg per square centimetre. It has much less swelling than OSB boards.
• Certified and tested for flooring, unlike the loft boards sold by DIY stores.
• The birch trees for these boards are grown in Germany and we cut the boards to size in the UK
• The panels are made with the same process as for OSB boards, but with different wood and different glues, and they are sanded smooth unlike conventional OSB. The boards have considerably less risk of swelling compared to OSB3, a critical property in our humid climate.

Note that we sell these loft board panels individually, not in packs of three. The price shown is therefore for one panel. Please ensure that you order the correct number of panels.

Screws are not included and we sell these separately via the link below. We recommend 4x40mm wood screws. Each loft board panel needs a minimum of three screws each, though you may choose to use up to six screws per panel for added strength if you wish.

Please remember that, these days, all loft boards should be raised above the joists in order to protect the full depth of loft insulation, as compressing the insulation with boxes or boards halves its effectiveness. We sell StoreFloor and StoreFloor Compact products that allow you to do this.
